MONTGOMERY, AL - The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) recently added Josh Segall to its 2010 "Races to Watch" list. Josh earned the spot by mounting a valiant challenge in 2008 and establishing strong support in Alabama's 3rd Congressional District.
The Races to Watch list highlights the best opportunities for Democratic pick-ups. This is typically the first step to entering DCCC's "Red to Blue" program.
"East Alabama needs jobs and that will be my top priority." said Segall. "I will be an independent leader who will put Alabamians first. Our district has lost thousands of manufacturing jobs, but the problem does not end at the state border. I want to be a national leader on job creation in rural areas. Receiving national attention is a huge step towards achieving this goal and will shine light on the challenges we face in Alabama."
DCCC Executive Director Jon Vogel said, "These strong candidates are getting the attention of folks back home because of their willingness to be independent voices for their districts. As these strong candidates continue building excitement for their campaigns to create jobs and help middle class families back home, the DCCC will help them become even more competitive in November."
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) named Mike Rogers one of the most vulnerable Republican incumbents. Despite partisan gridlock in Washington, Democrats and Republicans have come to a consensus on at least one issue - Rogers is in trouble with the voters of Alabama.
Josh is running for Congress because Washington is broken. For too long, Mike Rogers has contributed to the partisan paralysis and put special interests and his party ahead of job creation in his backyard. Josh will invest in infrastructure that will foster free enterprise and make money back in the long-run.
After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided not to pursue the office of US Representative for Alabama's Third District. So many of you have been incredibly supportive of my run, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your advice, encouragement, and efforts. I am immeasurably proud and appreciative of what we have accomplished together.
